Specification Writing

Ensuring appropriateness, accuracy and compatibility

At Fairway, we don’t simply provide a product; we’re experts in its actual application and use. Tap our expertise to avoid wasting time, effort and money deploying the wrong solution. Our team regularly works with architects, security consultants and general contractors to write specifications for door hardware, access control and CCTV systems. Because we focus specifically on architectural divisions 8 (door hardware) and 28 (security and life safety), we have the experience to write specifications to ensure that all components are compatible and work in concert with each other. Know that the products being applied will be controlled by the designated system; they will operate together seamlessly; and they will perform as intended. You can also be confident that the specifications we write will meet all building, fire, ADA and life-safety codes.

Specification evaluation and consultation

Fairway Access also collaborates with architects, clients, engineers, designers and security consultants to ensure that products specified will fit the desired application. We can evaluate specifications for continuity, and ensure that applications specified in divisions 8 and 28 are legitimate and meet client requirements. We are frequently consulted to ensure that drafted specifications will support a particular design and provide recommendations to architects to be sure that the products selected will work.

In addition, we can help develop policies and procedures to address the use of the products specified and to make sure that procedures align with the product technology applied – for example, access control and key system policies for school, healthcare and government facilities. We’re happy to guide you in implementing your solutions, and in developing policies and procedures to make them work effectively.
